Everest Basecamp (5364m) is the staging point for all of the summit attempts from the south side of the mountain. As you travel through the breathtaking valleys and villages of the Khumbu Valley, you will be sharing the trail with mountaineers heading for Everest, Ama Dablam, Lobuche and more!
This 14 day adventure will include visits to the bustling town of Namche Bazar, the famous Temboche Monestary and Sunrise over Everest from Kala Pattar (optional) amongst other sights as we make our way to our final destination of Basecamp and the inspiring Khumbu Icefall and Everest itself!
DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM - This adventure requires a basic level of fitness and preparation prior to taking part. There will be long days of trekking at increasing altitude. You will be required to provide a doctors certificate or letter to show your health is suitable to take part in the activity. This is a standard requirement to obtain permits.
ITINERARY:
Day 1 - Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 2 - Flight to Lukla (an experience in itself!) and a short 3-4 hour trek to either Phakding or Monjo (depending on flight times and group).
Day 3 - Trek 5-6 hours to the amazing Namche Bazar! Crossing the famous Hillary suspension bridge.
Day 4 - Acclimatisation day in Namche. Short 2-3 hour walk to Everest View (a stunning viewpoint where you can see Everest, Nuptse, Lohtse and Ama Dablam! Sagamartha National Park Museum visit 1-2 hours
Day 5 - Namche to Tengbouche 4-6 hours visiting the beautiful Tengbouche Monestary
Day 6 - Tengbouche to Dingbouche (and Minga’s amazing cake shop!) 4-6 hours
Day 7 - Rest day in Dingbouche (more cake) with a hike up to a local high point (approx 5000m) for amazing views of Ama Dablam.
Day 8 - Dingbouche to Lobouche 4-6 hours via Thukla Everest Memorial Pass.
Day 9 - Lobouche to Everest Base Camp at 5364m (via Gorakshep)!! 6-8 hrs long day. Visiting the famous base camp marker you can see all the way to the Khumbu Icefall. Back to Gorakshep for overnight stay.
Day 10 - Early morning hike to Kalapathar summit to watch the sunrise over Everest then hike to Periche 4-6 hours
Day 11 - Periche to Namche 6-8 hrs
Day 12 - Namche to Lukla 4-6 hrs
Day 13 - Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and rest day in Kathmandu (well deserved!)
Day 14 - Rest day and sightseeing in Kathmandu / Depart
